What is a Trunk Show? And how do I make the most of it?

Occasionally you will see boutiques or social media pages exclaiming that they are hosting a Trunk Show and inviting you to attend.

So what are these elusive ‘Trunk Shows'? and how can they help you on your journey to bridal bliss?

A Trunk Show is an event during which we receive a large collection of gowns from a particular designer – in our case; Laure de Sagazan, Donatelle Godart, Margaux Tardits and now Atelier Blanche. By representing a few brands over an intimate event, it allows us to share with you just what it is that is so special about these gowns and their finish. We showcase the dresses available at no other time of the year. Carte Blanche Bride essentially becomes the Australian flagship store for each of these brands over one golden weekend.

"We begin with a short consultation about who you are, what you like to wear day-to-day and the location and dress code of your wedding."

Trunk Shows run on an appointment basis, but unlike other bridal appointments, we begin with a short consultation about who you are, what you like to wear day-to-day and the location and dress code of your wedding. At Carte Blanche we have over 13 years experience working with brides to find the perfect dress for them. You are an independent, stylish bride who knows what she wants – we are here to point you in the right direction in an intimate and non-pushy atmosphere that does not have to cost the earth.

The major differentiation between a Trunk Show and an average wedding dress appointment is that you are able to thoroughly explore the full range of a brand that resonates with you.

Our Guide for Navigating a Wedding Dress Trunk Show.

Together with feeling simply special in your wedding dress, there are some key factors that will help you to narrow down the process of choosing THE ONE and help with your decision at the Trunk Show.

Be prepared.

A Bridal Trunk Show works best for you if you attend with a preconceived idea of what you like – or more importantly what you don’t like. The collections from Laure de Sagazan, Margaux Tardits and Donatelle Godart are available to try for a small amount of time, make the most of this opportunity by having attended other wedding dress appointments.

Attend at least 2 other appointments beforehand.

At Carte Blanche Bride we will never rush you into a decision; as can be a regular occurrence at many bridal stores. However we do strongly urge you to have attended at least 2 other appointments. Why you ask? This is so you know what feels good to you when you put it on and you know what QUALITY looks like. Our wedding dresses are the finest fabrics and finishes around and we are so sure we love you to compare. So hop to!

Come ready to buy your dress.

The designer collections at a Trunk Show are for that limited time period and the dresses will only be there for that set time. The wedding dresses will then be heading back home to Paris so retrying is not an option.

Foundation garments.

Wear underwear to match your skintone – no bright red of green please ladies. We encourage make up, you will be looking in the mirror for quite a while so make sure you are happy with what you see! We have special scarves to protect the dresses from your makeup.

Choose your guests carefully.

More than 2 opinions can be confusing and counterproductive. This is NOT a day to bring 4 of your bridesmaids for a nice day out. This is the day for one good friend/family member for serious decision making chats.

Each bride has their OWN PERSONAL JOURNEY when it comes to finding their dress, and whilst some may say you have to try on a huge selection of wedding dresses, often the magic happens a little quicker than you think. Choose what you love, because when you love what you wear you will glow from the inside out.
